How led grow lights generate heat?

Many suppliers advertise to customers that their LED lights do not generate heat, but this is not true. So how do LED lights generate heat? In the case of efficient conversion of electrical energy into light.

 

The main cause of heat generation in LEDs is a slight defect in the diode's crystal structure. The current through the diode that is not turned into light turns into heat. The second reason LEDs generate heat is reflections inside the diode. For an extremely efficient LED, about 80% of the electricity is converted to light, and about 80% of the light exits the diode (leaving a total of about 60% of the light exiting the diode). When it is reabsorbed by the diode, the light that is not emitted turns into heat.
